What is the best method for cleaning algae off of a glass aquarium (besides algae eating fish/snails)? I know some people use sponges, some people use the algae scrub pads/mits, some people use magnets, and some people use chemicals.

What is your preferred way to clean algae from your tank? I could probably do algae mits or scrub pads when I do my weekly water change. The magnets would be super easy cleaning any time I want, with minimal mess, but do they work well?

What do you guys think?

I use just a cheap, plain, plastic pot scrubber (New and not the ones with detergent added)

Hi,
I have glass tanks, and use a safety razor blade.

I've used both brushes and floating magnets ... I find the magnet to be a lot easier.

(That was all before I got my pleco. Since you said not to tell you to get an algae eater, I won't -- but the pleco solved my algae problem quite literally overnight ...)

I'm like Frank, I like using the razor.

You probably should try and evaluate why you are having issues with algae.
