What do you consider the best way to raise ph? I have a tap water with 6.7 ph and I am thinking about a multi tank with a ph of around 8. Thanks

Hi,
Were I you, I would use crushed dolomite, or crushed
limestone as substrate in the tank. Both are carbonates
and will bring the pH into the low 8.x and increase the
Ca and Mg as well as other minerals in the water.
Crushed coral will do the same, but it is primarily
CaCO3 and has no Mg.

The problem is that multies do not like substrate and they'll move it to rearrange the tank how they like it.

In my multi tank I have a very thin layer of crushed coral; I also put some in a media bag in the filter. Multies like lots and lots of shells...my tank is a 10g and I have at least 50 whale eye shells. The combination of the coral and shells keeps the pH at ~8.0, up from ~7.4.

The pic gives an idea of how hard they'll work to move substrate. Here's a section of my multi tank. They cleared everything out of that ring of shells, all the down to the glass. It was moved to the front and back corners. These are ~1" fish, yet that back corner pile is over 3.5" tall!

I love shellies

Did you order your shells from the site you posted?
Do you know what shipping is on the site?
If not from that site do you know any other site?

You can add some Limestone rocks in your tank & the ph will be raised slowly.
