hey guys,

i have a 55g tank thats deveolped a very light brown haze in the water, it's a little worrying.

i only have 1 HOB 800/L ph filter running on it and i dont tihnk it's over stocked.

what could this be? ammonia is 0.
ph is 6.2 worryingly

is it just the tank cycling again? with a bloom of bacteria? or something else.

Sounds like tannin. Is there any drift wood in the tank?

Two thoughts:

Could it be algae suspended in the water column? I once had that happen to one of my tanks, although I would have described it as more yellowish than brown. (I hadn't realized the tank was getting a little late-afternoon sun; once I adjusted the curtains, it cleared right up.)

Also, have you used any antibiotics in the water recently? I once had that happen following the use of Maracyn 2, and the company's customer service rep said that wasn't unusual. In that case, it definitely was brownish.

Yes if for no other reason it's generally not a good idea to let sunlight hit hit tanks.

The tanks I have that are in rooms facing the sun all have beard/hair algae issues.
