i've just put in the plants and in my 15 gallon aquarium after two weeks of nothing being in there (but water and the filter + heater) and it seems to have gone a tintted brown. Is this because of the bogwood (sanded) or is this just natural?

the brown water is because of the bogwood. with water changes and adding carbon to the filter it will go away.

Yes it is from the bog wood. It won't hurt your fish and usually goes away after a while. It may also lower your PH (making it more acidic). Some people, like me, like the brown tint the water gets.

The Bogwood leached out some Tanning, just add some Carbon to your filter & the stained water will go away by time.
