martinh![]() Fingerling Posts: 39 Kudos: 18 Votes: 3 Registered: 08-Apr-2006 ![]() ![]() | i'v been cycing a new tank for 4 weeks now with 12 neon tetras(2 are missing) algae is forming in the tank i've also added 1 male molly from my old tank which was being bullied......the only problem i have is water hardness...what should i do.....waiting to transfer 3 guppys 3 mollys 1 bronze catfish 3 neon tetras (1 shark and 2 clown loaches which i'm thinking about taking back to thr lfs caus everyboby keeps telling me they will grow to big)i also have 3 baby mollys which are going nowhere till they are a lot bigger |

You should decide what pH/GH you want the water to stay at, and then begin replacing the water with distilled water for the top offs and for the water changes, until you get the pH/GH where you want it. Over time, you will find that if you change out X nr of gallons of water and replace it with Y gallons from the tap mixed with Z gallons of distilled water, the pH/GH will remain constant.
