I have a 10 gallon tank that I have had over 2 years with no problems. About a month ago it got dirty quick and I found out the filter was clogged with one of my real plants and it had stopped running. So I got it unclogged, changed the nasty filter and did a couple of water changes. It almost got clear and now it is getting worse. There is some clear looking slime on the plants and overflowing from the filter where the water returns. I checked all pH and ammonia yesterday and it was great. So what can I do to clear up the cloudy/smokey looking tank and what can I do about this slime stuff? My fish appear to be fine and eatting ok for now.
THANK YOU!!

I've never seen anything like thie phenomenon you've described. Is this a relatively translucent gelatinous kind of slime, or does it have a semi-fungal look to it?

All I can suggest for the moment, without seeing a pic, is lots of water changes and manual removal of the offending material until everything settles down again.

Hi, I had that same problem. I resolved my problem with "Clear Water" From "Jungle". Removes odors and cloudiness. My tank was clear with in 3 days....

It sounds like a mini-cycle. My newly set up 80 gal went cloudy a week ago and a good dose of cycle had things cleared up within a few days. That "slime" is not uncommon when a tank is going through a cycle. I've had it before in my tanks. It should go away when your bacterial colonies catch up.
