Hi,

I just finished a 6-day Pimafix/Melafix treatment on my tank and now it's cloudy. I did a 25-30% water change every 3 days (first two times with gravel vacuuming 1/3 of tank, last time without g.v.). The bottles say those meds "do not harm beneficial bacteria" in your tank. I've added Seachem Stability (bacterial starter), which did help a cloudy water/bacterial bloom problem I had before, but with no effect this time.

Has anyone had experience with their tank turning cloudy after medication? Any advice?

Thanks much.

I have had "haziness" in the water after using Melafix. It was not a bacteria bloom but it was the result of using the product. The haziness was eliminated after using the product through water changes and regular maintenance that included wiping down the interior walls of the aquarium and cleaning the mechanical filtration.

You can run some activated carbon for a few days, that will pull it from the water column.

Most medications will turn the water cloudy . I've noticed melafix will do it right away, and make it a bit more bubbly :%).
As was said, carbon or a water change. Keep an eye on your ammonia, it shouldn't have been effected too much by the treatment you used but it's always better safe than sorry .

Thank you. I will put the Purigen back in the canister filter tonight and do another water change.
