Just curious, but why do you want to change the water every day?

Yes, it stresses the fish.

You only need to do about weekly water changes.

Even if you only changed 1/4 cup a day you'd change nearly double your tanks volume in a week. Too much fish stress. I only do 2g a day in my 55g tank. Even if I put in near freezing water my heaters would barely come on. More water changes means more work

Weekly changes are ok for larger tanks that are filtered, but those water changes are to get rid of nitrates, etc, whereas changing water in a one gallon is to get rid of ammonia and fish waste.

I would ask the betta experts on the labryinth fish section, but you're going to want to do more than weekly water changes in a "tank" that small, especially if its unfiltered which I'm assuming it is.

Most of the water can be changed every day if, and I mean IF, the new water is exactly the same temp and pH of the tank water.

Since a gallon of water fouls real easy from waste and fish food I would suggest a water change every 48 hours in an unfiltered tank.

What I do for the betta tank I have is to do a 50% weekly change, making sure that temp is matched. There is one plant (non aquatic) that grows with it's roots submerged so it's not doing all that much for water quality, and I don't alter the Ph....however it's a 2 gallon (out of possible 6). I'm also running an airstone on the tank.
I do believe that the general "rule" for anything 1 gallon or under is 100% changes daily if possible for the reasons that garyroland mentioned.

Ok - so let me get this right. 100% water changes daily if possible as long as the water is exactly the same temp.
Did i get that right ? anything i need to kno about the right way to go about doing water changes for a one gallon ?
