Basically, it's almost pure H2O. This makes it perfect for topping off your tank so as not to add any minerals to raise the hardness to unhealthy levels. If you intend to use it to fully fill your tank, you must have a reclaim chemistry such as Kent Marine's RO-Right. This will add back essential minerals and electolytes the fish need to survive. If you do not add these minerals, the fish will end up being stripped of them, and getting sick and eventually croaking. You should also use a pH stabilizer like Wardley's Bullseye. It's great to use if you can, as it doesn't have any of the added chemicals that come with tap water, and it's usually a little more pure. ![]() |

Trying to manipulate pH with chemicals is never the way to go. --garyroland. |

Those wishing to slowly reduce pH to trigger spawning in certain trops will slowly add RO or distilled water to their tank water until the desired pH value is reached. --garyroland. |
