It is available at Wal-Mart and supposedly once you put it in the tank you don't have to touch it for 6 months. His tank is a 55g, with one live plant and tetras, cories and harlequin rasboras (1, I'm working on it!),and other fish that he can't remember the names for. I recommended that he not look for such an easy solution as I don't believe the claim that you need do nothing for 6 months. Has anyone tried this product? Can anyone recommend a product that will be easy for him to use and won't need me running over every week to do it for him? I'm thinking Stability or something like that. Thanks in advance and wish me luck, soon I get to have a major play session in his tank when we plant it better! ![]() ![]() "If you're afraid you'll make a mistake, you won't make anything." -Family Circus |

Forget it gals... Life is not about sitting on your rear end and do nothing. Same thing applies to aquarium maintenance. You both had the right impression and doubt. I would NEVER trust such a product and between you and me, don't you think we would have heard about it before... like in science mags, TV shows and all. Get your buckets and be ready for the next water change! Sponge ![]() Last edited by Sponge_Bob at 02-Jan-2006 17:58 |

I do believe it has to be too good to be true. He is looking for a way out of buckets and water changes without shelling out for a python. I say get the python or buck up and get out the buckets! LOL Myself I prefer less chemicals and more natural solutions, lots of plants, frequent water changes and proper filtration. A python would be nice too but you can't have everything! Add it and wait 6 months and you will surely have as many dead fish as though you had the plague! :-D *waves at fellow canucks* *huge waves for Colleen! A water change every week is the single most important maintenance you can perform on your tank. If you do nothing else, do water changes. |

Thanks everyone, I have advised my brother not to buy that product, water changes it is. Too bad there is no easy way to lose the buckets. Hi Koran! Nice to hear from you. I am thinking of adding it to my tank at some point (maybe after adding some Potassium Nitrate to bring nitrate up to 20 or so PPM) just to see if Nitrates drop and KH goes up as they claim. It may not work as advertised, but it isn't necessarily completely useless either :-) |

See General: Getting Started: First Water Test on a New Aquarium? to read the claims and instructions for it's proper use. As I mentioned in my other post, I'm not advocating it's use, only providing information. BPS in MS, USA |

I'm happy with my buckets while longing for a python. ![]() "If you're afraid you'll make a mistake, you won't make anything." -Family Circus |
