my water in my 15 keeps getting green and staying that way. i have tried to put a towel over it and keep as much light out as i can. i also have tired leaving the light off.nothing works it clears up for a day or two them comes right back. i also have noticed it more when i put algea discs for my bottom feeders or shrimp pellets in the tank.
why is it doing this and what can be done to stop it.

Hi,
Here is a site specifically about Green Water, what
causes it, and how to get rid of it:

[link=http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/greenwater.html]http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/greenwater.html" style="COLOR: #FF00FF[/link]

This should clear that tank right up.

Try getting some New Improved Cycle, (NIC). It helps with the balance of beneficial bacteria. It worked for me when I had green water.

Hi,
A UV sterilizer system will work, and the algaecide
will also work. With the chemical after its use, you will
want to do a large water change to prevent complications
from the sudden death of the algae.
