Hey i know this question might be asked several times,
but please help me out.
I have a 360litre tank and 120litre tank and i was just wondering what is the desired level of nitrate for my 2 tanks?

Actually there is no "desired" level of nitrates...

Hobbyists, those who realize the importance of water quality, will try and hold the nitrates under 50ppm but won't expend too much energy constantly testing for them.

We're much more interested in controlling ammonia and nitrites, two killers of trops if allowed to become out of control.

Some trops get a little uneasy when nitrates are elevated above 50ppm...

Then there's the new thinking that 100ppm is simply fine and next to harmless.

But, for the sake of those who insist on lowering their nitrates to a ridiculous level, water changes are in order.

The scenario might be if your fish are thriving in their present nitrate count, why bother??

On the other hand, just for the sake of providing some fresh water to a stale tank, do some partial water changes now and then and take note of any attitude changes.

The fish's attitude, not yours.

Yes, you need a water change. 80-100 ppm is over the level fish are generally comfortable with. They get stressed above about 40 ppm.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

I think you should do a water change. If you are wondering if 80 to 100 is ok this month maybee next month over 100 will be ok,and so on. The way I see it fish are like you and I, and I like to live in a clean house. If your tank gets dirty too fast try a bigger tank with the same amount of fish, or bring a couple of you pets back to the local fish store. Obviously you care or you wouldnt have posted this thread. Good luck friend.
