![]() | High Ammonia STILL |
misty666660![]() Hobbyist Posts: 68 Kudos: 61 Votes: 1 Registered: 05-Aug-2004 ![]() ![]() | Hi, <br>I have a 170l tank. I have had some problems with cycling (changed the filter) and have fish in the tank i really want to keep alive and healthy. My ammonia levels have been really high for weeks and weeks. I do regular water changes to try and get it down, but i may be getting a false reading as i am using ammolock. My ammonia is up at 8 ppm, pH 6.0, nitrite is being produced - 0.25ppm, no nitrate. So how long should i expect ammonia to remain high, and how much nitrite will be produced? I had 1 ornate tetra and seven neons for at least a month and the ammonia readings remained at 8ppm. Please help! Thanks. |

The use of AmmoLock will indeed cause a false high ammonia reading. The AmmoLock binds the harmful ammonia molecule and renders it harmless, but the harmless molecule remains to drive hobbyist's crazy. --garyroland. |
