Hello everybody,
hope you could help me on this.
I read in different forum that if you age your tap water the P.H will drop. How much time does it take to notice a differance. My tap is P.H 7.5 with hardness of 11. One day past and no difference. Thanks

It really depends on your KH. Usually 24 hrs is enough time for the gas exchange to make a difference. If your KH is high it can even raise the PH over 24 hrs.

At 7.5 your PH is fine. Most tropicals can thrive in that PH. Remember with PH it is better for it to be stable than perfect at 7.0.

Hi,
I suspect that you are either using the wrong term
or testing the wrong water chemistry.
For Discus, you want soft acidic water. pH in the
6's and General Hardness (GH) around 3 or so (for wild
caught fish). Carbonate Hardness, KH, as I understand
Discus, could be 5 with no problems. Additionally,
farmed discus are bred in waters of higher pH, and GH
are are "used" to this water.
It would, I think, be best if you asked your source
what they keep/raise, their fish in, and then model
yours after it.

Frank
