Hi
As I recall, Kosher Salt has been refined and does not
contain all the elements that are found in natural sea
salt. Other than that, it is a matter of expense.

Now, the main question... why do you need salt?

Kosher salt I don't know about, but ocean salt should not be used in a freshwater aquarium. It contains elements generally not found in freshwater or found in much lower quantities. Another problem is that most salt mixes are designed to buffer pH up to 8.2-8.4, which most freshwater fish do not need.
