I recently found out that my high phosphate levels in my tank are being caused by bad Eco-complete. Supposely limestone got into the substrate mix.

The thing I don't undertand is my ph (6.7 with co2) 7.2 without and kh (4) are both low.

For sure that Limestone will higher the ph in your tank. Most African Cichlids like to have high ph but most SA fish don't.

Well, that's the thing, I'm not sure why my ph isn't higher if the limestone was added to the Eco and making my tank phosphate rich.

If your ph and kh didn't raise then it's not actually limestone that got in the mix. It has to be something else.
