For almost two years, I've been using the Wardley Professional Master Test Lab (tests medium and high PH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates). I'm running out of some of the test droplets so need to find a replacement. I cannot find this product online anywhere so I'm assuming that they don't make it anymore. I was using this test kit because the previous products that I'd purchased were giving incorrect readings on Ammonia as they got messed up by the Amquel detoxifier liquid that I use in water changes. Can anyone recommend a different test product for measuring ammonia that won't give inaccurate readings with Kordon's Amquel? Thanks,

Why are you using Amquel if the tank is cycled? A cycled tank shouldnt need it, therefore you wouldnt get a false reading.

I would stop using Kordon's amquel its really a waste and doesnt work. For a test kit i would stay far away from the strip tester kits as they often give inaccurate readings on there own. A product for testing i would recommond would be
Aquarium Pharmaceuticals tester kits as they are cool and accurate and dont cost that much money$$.

I guess Todash uses AmQuel to detoxify the chlorine or chloramines in the water. I do the same (combined with PolyAqua, or whatever it's called).

For the question itself, any test kit which uses salicylate reagents will work fine with AmQuel+. Aquarium Pharmaceuticals make two different ammonia test kits, one which uses nessler reagents and is good for 75 tests, which will not work with AmQuel+, the other is good for 150 (I think, but over 100 tests for sure) which uses salicylate reagents would work with AmQuel+, so check before you're buying which one it is. I use this one and it works just fine.

If you can't find this one I know that Kordon, the makers of AmQuel+, also make a salicylate-based ammonia test kit. Seachem have one as well, but as far as I have gathered from their website, it's a bit complicated... They also have those ammonia disks that monitor the ammonia constantly, but I have never used them, so I can't say if they're good or not (but they're supposed to work with AmQuel+).

Yes, I use Kordon's Amquel to remove Chlorine and Chlorimines during a water change. I'm open to other products if they are better, but I am on town water so need to do this step. I appreciate the information about the type of test kit to look for. Thanks!

I also use AmQuel+ for water changes and I think it's an excellent product. I have used other products such as AmmLock as well, and they all seemd to do their job, but I still prefer using AmQuel+ with NovAqua (and not PolyAqua, that's a different product). I see no reason for you to stop using AmQuel+, Prime and AmmLock work in a similar way after all(their makers, unlike Kordon, don't tell exactly what they do, so it's impossible to know), and achieve the same results. On top of that, you have something around in case of emergency, and for me, our tap water contain some nitrites in them and I feel better knowing that those nitrites are detoxified before I let the fish swim in the water.

I like the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Master Test Kit. It is reasonably priced and readilly available at most aquarium store outlets.

Thanks. I will get the test kit from American Pharmaceuticals - the version that has salicytate reagents and continue using Amquel for chlorine and chlorimines -
