our LFS up here don't carry pythons, they carry cheeper "look-alikes", i'm not worried about the quality of these or anything like that, what i'm worried about is this, i'm soon to be getting a 125, and i also want to up the W/C per week on the 55 (30%), the only thing i worry bout it putting cold chlorinated water directally into my tanks, something to solve the cold part is using the hot/warm water outa the faucet, but what about the water softner salt getting into the tank??? and should i just add the dechlorinater directally to the tank?

I do large, frequent water changes with tap water for my discus. Note that a large water change is 50% and frequent is daily. Oh, and it is a planted 125G tank.

Water changes are with a python. Hot and cold are tempered to 30C for refill. The measuring element is touch. The tank and output should feel the same. The target is a drop in tank temperature of 0.5C for me. I get a little degassing but it is nominal from my city water.

Municipal water enters the house and passes through a 20 micron whole house filter. All interior water is softened by a water conditioner. I often forget about the softener when I do water changes. If I do remember, I bypass the unit. Plants, discus, corys, bns and rams don't seem to mind.

Daka,

Like I told you in chat. Most water softeners do not add salt to your water. It uses salt as a form of ion exchange and does not increase the salinity of your water.
