I have a question, and I think this is board it needs to be on, but if I'm wrong, please tell me.

Yesterday, as I was doing my normal weekly 15% water change and gravel vac, I noticed that nothing at all came out of the gravel when I stirred it around and tried to vacuum it. Every other time I've done a gravel vac I've sucked up something, so I'm wondering if something could be wrong. Also, if it's important, I'm running a UGF with a powerhead. Thanks in advance.

I say the UGF is working pretty well. But either way, still do your gravel vac, just don't rely on the UGF.

So it's normal for there to be nothing to vacuum up on occasion?

If the UGF is working, and you are not overfeading, then yes. I only wish my fish and filters did that good a job.

Thanks! I feel a lot better now. I was worried something was horribly wrong. I guess my love of bottom feeders has helped my tank more than I thought.
