And my question is should I use the water from tank to clean those white baggy of sand and the black caboon or should i use water from my apartment to clean it? Sorry about my english I'm from china only came to canada for a few years <img src='/images/forums/frown.gif' border=0>.

Using water straight from the faucet usually has chlorine and/or chloramine which will kill the good bacteria. If you just want to rinse off some filter media such as sponges you should use dechlorinated water or water from the tank. You should also be adding a water conditioner or dechlorinator when you add water to the aquarium. That's assuming that like most places your water has chlorine added.

Remember that just rinsing the carbon doesn't reactivate it. It usually only has a usefulness of maybe 2-4 weeks at the most and then needs to be replaced as it has reached its absorbtion capacity.

P.S. No apology necessary for your english. I'll bet there are not many using this site that have any fluency at all in chinese. In fact I would say that it's much better than many of the so called english speaking on the site.

Yes, it's best to rinse both the carbon and other filter media first to remove any dust or small particles first. As there isn't any bacteria colony established at this point you can just rinse them in your tap water.
