In my community i would like to lower the pH, is it at about 7.2 and i would really like to lower it to about 6.8. I have driftwood in my tank, i have CO2 injected but it never seems to go lower. Second, my other tank is for my shelldwellers, a 10 gallon tank with 6 multis. The pH is about 8.0. Should i worry about raising it or is it okay for them? Is playing with the pH too risky? I just thought that a higher pH might induce spawning. I hate the idea of chemicals, any other ideas? Or am i just being crazy and should i just leave my pH alone? |

To be honest if the ph in both your tanks remains stable your fish should be fine and have no problems. I really see no need in you trying to ajust your ph. |

It would be difficult to lower the ph in the community tank but if you want to raise the ph in the other tank just add some crushed coral or limestone ba |

Activated carbon only removes so much color and it will get expensive to keep a large amount of it fresh in your filter. It's possible to lower ph but there is no easy way. |
