I would really like to adjust the pH in both of my tanks. In my community i would like to lower the pH, is it at about 7.2 and i would really like to lower it to about 6.8. I have driftwood in my tank, i have CO2 injected but it never seems to go lower.

Second, my other tank is for my shelldwellers, a 10 gallon tank with 6 multis. The pH is about 8.0. Should i worry about raising it or is it okay for them? Is playing with the pH too risky? I just thought that a higher pH might induce spawning.

I hate the idea of chemicals, any other ideas? Or am i just being crazy and should i just leave my pH alone?

Are any of the fish in either of the tanks showing any signs of stress or being in any type of distress that would lead you to believe that your ph could be a problem. To be honest if the ph in both your tanks remains stable your fish should be fine and have no problems. I really see no need in you trying to ajust your ph.

I think the ph in both tanks is fine. It would be difficult to lower the ph in the community tank but if you want to raise the ph in the other tank just add some crushed coral or limestone based rock aka texas holey rock.

peat moss will help..but will of course discolor ur water...so..adding act. carb willhelp lessen the effect...just change it regularly to be effective.

as far as im concern..i say..ur comm tank is at gud pH as is... 7.2 is not bad

Generally by the time you add enough peat moss or driftwood to lower the ph you end up with really dark water. Activated carbon only removes so much color and it will get expensive to keep a large amount of it fresh in your filter. It's possible to lower ph but there is no easy way.
