My tank temp is to hot! My room Temp is about 85+ so when I got my thermometer it read out 85+ becuase the highest it read out to was 85. I opened all the windows in my room, turned off the tank light, and set a fan next to the tank. The water temp is decreasing EVER slightly. I'd say it'll average out to 2F-3F a day.

Have you read through all the FAQs on this site?

Water temperature is VERY important. That's why there's 2 basic types of freshwater fish, coldwater or tropical. Coldwater fish generaly don't need a heater, Tropical fish need a heater unless you're living on the Equator.

Also, it's a good idea to set hte tank up at least a few days in advance, that way you're sure it's not leaking.

The tetras and the loach are social fish and like having friends. You should also read all their profiles and make sure that they will fit in your tank when fully grown. I don't know about tiger sharks.

You can tell if something is wrong with your fish if they act abnormal. Which fish are being over active? If it's the tetras it's probably because they feel insecure. Also, if the water is too cold, ann your fish will go sluggish and not eat.

Yes. Water temperature is important, and in particular, if you drop your fish into sub-70 water, unless they're cold-water fish, they're going to get stressed out. They've almost certainly been kept in water between 70 and 80 at the LFS.

You should put in the filter, heater, and thermometer ahead of time. Don't plug in or turn on the heater immediately because you're probably filling the tank with cold tap water and until the glass adjusts you're at risk of your heater shattering. Make sure your filter works, though, and prime it with water if it needs it.

After half an hour or so plug in the heater and turn it on. You'll probably have to play with the thermostat to get the temperature right, but you should eventually be able to stabilize on your chosen temperature.

I dont have a heater or a thermometer. I asked the guy at the pet store and he said just dump your fish in. I did and they seem to be doing fine (except for one who I think is havin toxic shock because the tanks cycling hasn't fully started yet)

Whoah there!]:| You just dumped your fish in before your tank was done cycling? Bad, bad, bad. Also, the guy at the fish store is either very ignorant, or doesn't care. Did you acclimate the fish to your tank water first? What kind of fish did you get? Depending on what kind of fish, and the water temp, you might have some stressed-out or dead fish come morning.

You can't keep a clown loach in a 25 gallon tank!]:| I know I seem like kind of a grumpy person, but they can grow to a foot long, and need to be kept in groups anyways!

How Important is the water temp becuase I just got a new tank, my first one freshwater and I don't have any fish it in yet (I'm cycling it first) I havn't done anything for the water temp, I havn't checked changed it or anything.I just have tap water in it. Should I check or change my water temp before I put my fish in?

The tetras don't seem to be doing anything but floating. There alive, don't look sick, but don't seem to be doing anyhing just kinda floating there. The guppy seems to be very sociol and attached to the platy which is also very active. The loach doesn't seam very social either it is usally hiding under a rock.

They don't have anything to be social with. Fish species are only social with the same species or similar species. Btw, i have heard of guppies and platies interbreeding.

Can you just give us a little summary, it's getting hard to follow your dozen threads.

Heater:
Filter:
Water tempif you don't have a thermometer try to guess)
How long the tank has been set up:
When each fish was added:

What is probably the reason for the loach and tetras inactivity is the fact that they are not being kept in groups. Both fish really are schooling fish, and need groups to be able to stay happy and active. The clown loach really can't be kept in a 25 gallon, as they will outgrow even 55 gallon tanks! I would return the loach and add some tetras after you finish cycling the tank, and add a thermometer and heater.

At least four more tetras would be best. When you interbreed a guppy and a platy, you get a puppy!:%):%):%)

Really though, I don't think they can crossbreed because they are different kinds of fish.
