Have you tried a UV sterilizer?

Also, Dont keep the lights on as long, or move the tank if it is in direct sunlight.

As already mentioned, the algae doesnt hurt the fish, they probably acually like it. At my LFS there is a tank that has been like that for about 2 months now. They are trying to fix it, but nothing seems to work.

thanks.

the tank was fine up until i added a live plant, thats when it went green.

the tank itself is one of those Aqua One 10G ones. with with a built in light and filter.
which is a powerhead and UGF.

i have since taken the plant out, i'm pretty sure its 'green' water algae.

i'll check the link out thanks

first of all 50% water changes are dangerous to most fish even if you put in conditioner. the green isn't hurting the fish as much as it is your eyes so don't get in a rush with it. the best way to cure an algae is actually to "starve" it to death. first you have to identify the type of algae then reduce what "feeds" that particular algae. look at the site below and you'll learn alot. things like making sure you don't have a plant bulb in your light unless of couse you have many plants in the tank, and reducing the amounts of nitrates and phosphates in your water also. if you have alot of waste (amonia) feeding bacteria and changing to nirites which inturn feeds algae turning nitrites to nitrates i think i may have confused myself lol
