Hello all!!! We are thinking about moving back into the city! and its been forever since i have lived inside the city and i have a question. SInce, its city water- there is chlorine in the water right?? so- do i have to put that stuff in the water for my frogs/fish??? what about like for my mice- will i have to put stuff in their drinking water too? sorry- i just cant remember.. thanks!

Don't know about mice....
You'll need @least chlorine remover, you'll likely also want to get one that handles chloramine. Alot of cities have switched to chloramine as well as chlorine (sometimes they switch back and forth).

If you're moving into Springfield, they also have flouride in their water. I believe that Start Rite takes flouride out, but I'm not absolutely certain.

I would use a product called: Novaqua.

It will take out everything you need it to.

My dad has been using it for over 20 years, and it has never failed to work.

most major cities treat their water differently. call your water treatment plant and tell them you are a fresh water fish enthusiast with questions. the ones i have dealt with in various cities have been more then helpful.

Go to your city's website, and in their water department's section they may actually have a water report from the tests they must do on the water, what they put in, ph, etc.

I fed my hamsters fresh water striaght from the tap and i live in the city. I think the mice should do fine but i would call your local water place to make sure

THanks for the replies everyone!!! we are definately moving into the city! I will probably call the vet- he should know and if not then i will call the water place. I think the mice should be fine- but my frogs and fish will probably need some stuff in the water! thanks again
