Welcome to FP barbq...

The last photo I think shows us your problem Is that a curtain covering your window there beside it? Do you often have that window open? You could also be overfeeding.

Now the bad news...if that is a window that I see, you are going to have to move the tankand that is a whole other matter...

What fish are in the tank? How long has it been set up? I'd be willing to bet that your nitrates are also high in the tank...

What else can we do?

Heidi is on the right track window open or not don't forget about direct sunlight, its a major cause of this problem. I can't offer anymore advice than that I'm sorry as I've been able to avoid this.

Another friend of mine had this problem and he did a 100% water change, scrubbed the tank etc which can be a DEATH SENTENCE but I guess the inhabitants are not doing well in that anyway. Good Luck and don't do anyything too rash till more members respond

Yes there is a window, I can keep curtain down no prbl w/ that. I have 4 firemouth cichlids and an algae eater. I had overfeed them. I think i put too much of the plant nutrients also. so this could be the problem ? Thank you for your time

Hi,
Green water is easy to fix, and once you have licked it,
I suggest that you put some black construction paper on
the part of the tank that faces the window. That way
you should be able to enjoy the open window and keep the
tank where it is.
Here is a site that deals with Green Water, its causes,
and the cure:

Firstly, welcome to FP & secondly, i had Green Water before & i Blacked out the tank for a week & then made a 30/40% water change. Direct sunlight, overfeeding & too much plant nutrients, can cause Green Water aswell.
