Is this the Gh in the test kits? I've read that some fish prefer soft over hard water or vice versa and until now I was just putting in any fish that I felt would look nice in my tank. I have a Gh of 8. What does this mean? TIA Jen |

Soft is considered 0-3 degrees (0-50ppm) medium/soft is 3-6 degrees (50-100ppm) medium/hard is 6-11 degrees (100-200ppm) Hard is 11-22 degrees (200-400ppm) My kit says that 8 degrees is good "for most tropicals, including swordtails, guppies, mollies and goldfish". Hope this helps... Frank ![]() Last edited by FRANK at 28-Dec-2004 19:17 -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

Your trops will adjust to any pH within reason if acclimated correctly, the reason being 6.5 to 9.0 pH. --garyroland. |

Genereal Hardness is the measure of all minerals in the water. Carbonate Hardness or KH is the measure of your water's buffering ability or its ability to resist a pH crash. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
