My son put about a good teaspoon of body lotion in my acrylic 5 gal hex fry tank. I tried to net what I could out but some broke up in the water. I changed some of the water. Little specs of it are floating around thought. The fry try to eat it then spit it out. With this hurt them? Please say I dont have to break down this tank. Will it hurt my bio wheel? What should I do? Havent saw any dead fry. They are a good week old.

You might want to try several water changes over the next few days. Make sure to change the filter - it may have soaked up most of it. Also, try a gravel vac in the even any of it settled to the bottom.
I hope this helps. I really don't know what effect it will have on the fry, but lotions contain a lot of prefumes that can't be good for the fish.

The little ones are still going strong. I took out the filter and rinsed it in clean tap water. It nor the bio wheel have a slimy feel to it. The filter was just put in Wednesday night around 12 so rinsing in it tap shouldnt matter. Kinda hard to do a gravel vac in a 5 gallon hex. Ill try tomorrow after I change some of the water.

You could try to find something like a sponge to soak up the surface water. Sort of like an oil slick.

Keep on doing daily water changes & try to net out the lotion by hand.

Hi,
Most folks simply lay a paper towel on the surface and
then gently lift it up when it dampens and toss it.

The sponge will have too many knooks and cranies in it
and can actually hold the stuff and release it back into
the tank after you squeeze it out over the sink and then
place it back in the tank the second time.

I have a minivac made for small tanks, but am not sure if you would be able to find one in your area. Just keep up the water changes and the paper towel idea sounds good to me too.
