They like a stable pH and clean water. In an overstocked tank, you may want to do daily 20 or 25% water changes. In a lightly stocked tank, you may find that 25% water changes are best. If you go a week before making a water change, then it is a good idea to age, heat and aerate replacement water for a day or two before the water change. Aerating the water helps it to de-gas and the pH to naturally rise.
