hey guys

heres the story

i setup my new 55G tank in the living room, and after 3 weeks it was getting to much direct sunlight and was developing green water so i emptied the tank mostly and moved it to a place where it gets daylight but not direct sunlight.

a week or so passed and the green water was coming back.
i added a CF 700 cannister filter (250l) with my HOB 800

i changed the lighing time from 16 hours to 8 and i've covered up the tank for 3 days. it's a 15K bulb.

today was the day i take off the covers. and although it does look like its imporved a little. it's not not crystal clear and i'm running out of stuff to try. i can't afford alot of chemicals

heres the tank stats

Tap PH: 7.4
Tap Nitrate: 12.5

Tank Ph: 6.2
Tank Nitrite: NIL
Tank Nitrate: 12.5
Ammonia:.25

stock:
2 x Silver Dollars
2 x Green Severum (one adult one juve)
3 x Keyhole Cichlids
6 x black widow tetra
2 x red eye tetra
3 x Molly
1 x kribnesis
1 x flame gourami
1 x platy
1 x oto

i havent done a water change for over a week cause i didn;t water the murky/green water to grow...

what should i do

heres some pics:

Stu,

Water changes will help you to keep the green water under control. The algae bloom can be combatted by adding some fast growing plants that will out compete the simple algae for the nutrients in the water. Look for any ceratopteris or hygrophila to add to your aquarium.

Doh! I missed that in your list. Of course, you would have VERY happy silver dollars...

Looking a heck of a lot better Going to keep a background on it? It really does help hide cords and looks so much better

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.
