Gender: Males have a red/orange marking on fins and a blue tinge to its face/head.
Breeding: 1 male to 2 or 3 females. The male prepares the spawning site and defends it against intruders. Polystigma have large broods and it is recommended to separate fry by size as the larger fry may eat smaller fry.
