Gender: Females are slightly larger than males, and the males have a modified anal fin with a gonopodium.
Breeding: Like most livebearers, the female is internally fertilized by the male. Easily bred if given the right set-up. Have floating plants for the fry. Gestation is around 45-60 days.

Comments: Sometimes these are available in local fish stores. A very easily cared for fish, that will do quite well in a tank housed with many different types of Central American cichlids. As in nature, these fish share their environment with cichlids.
