| Gender: | Males are much more colourful than females. Males also have a pointed dorsal fin. A female is pictured above. |
| Breeding: | Can be difficult. Proper water parameters are required. They spawn in the early hours of morning at sun rise. They lay rather large yellow eggs in/on plants near the surface. Hatching times vary between 5-8 days, depending on the water temperature. Temperature should be between 23-26C. Usually the parents will not eat the eggs, nor the young. But it is different in all cases. Feed the newly hatched fry infusoria or artemia nauplii, or other very small foods. |

| Comments: | As with all fish, frequent water changes are a good thing. However, this fish will do poorly without them, and thus a required thing to keep these fish healthy.
