Temperament: Predatory; Predatory. Will eat any fish that will fit into it's mouth. Will fight for territory if other territorial fish are present.

Care: Feed with live fish and worms. Small Barramundi will take cichlid pellets but must have a high protein diet. An extremely large tank is requred. Large logs or caves are recommended. As the Barramundi grows more salt should be added to the tank until a brackish solution is achieved.

Gender: Most aquarium sized specimens are males. All Barramundi are born males and some change sex to females after reaching 100cm.
Breeding: Impossible in a home aquarium due to size and salinity restictions. The Barramundi moves from salt water to freshwater to breed.
Variants: The platinum and a golden variant can be found.
Comments: An awe-inspiring predator, this fish will grow to over 100kg and more than 1.8 metres long. This is not a fish for beginners.
