Reason: | correction, this species is actually perfectly ok with methylene blue, protozin, and a whole host of other whitespot meds, this is not a medicine intolerant fish despite being scaleless. This misinformation might make treating pictus for whitespot needlessly laborious and actually threaten its life. Been there, done that, normal doses, lots of specimens, no problems. | ||
Old Text: | Be careful of the sharp dorsal spine when handling. Use only very fine nets when netting this fish. If the fish's spines get caught in the net, you will need to cut the net as it is next to impossible to remove it from the spine without the possible damage to the fin. As the Pictus Catfish has no scales, it is susceptible to white spot though try not to use traditional medications. Traditional white spot medications such as those that contain methylene blue are detrimental to scaleless fish. ----------- 22-Nov-2024 11:53:20 3.141.201.95 URL: /profiles/reviewedit.php?id=1031 QS:id=1031 Ref: /home/fishpro/public_html/lib/Diff.php(480) Call to undefined method Text_MappedDiff::Text_MappedDiff() #0 /home/fishpro/public_html/profiles/reviewedit.php(325): Diff->__construct('Be careful of t...', 'Be careful of t...') #1 {main} |
