Cheers, Alex. |

I have a "large" 2 year old male in my 3 foot planted tank (just waiting on a female I bought to grow out in a separate tank before hopefully joining him). A pair "fits" perfectly in a tank of this size, and leaves room for some form of schooling fish and a bottom feeder or two ![]() They are extremely hardy, not messy, and easy to obtain round these parts (and they don't hassle the plants) ![]() So far as how they will get along with shrimp I can't say I'm afraid. Any other ideas? Cheers, Alex. |

They can be quite shy at first, but a good group of 4 of them and good hiding places all over the tank so they feel safe, and they will come out then more or less anytime. |

If it's just a shrimp, most cichlids will remove the legs, feelers, etc. one piece at a time from any shrimp. If it's a crayfish, it'll eat most fish unless we're talking a largemouth bass or other large predatory fish. Eric |

I had to move it out of another tank because it started eating the fish. So I need a large-is cichlid that isn't too nasty, but also isn't too placid. Thanks for your ideas! They've been really good. If you've got any other ideas, please tell me! Cheers, Alex. |
