Why do I need to register?
You need to register in order to post messages and edit profiles. Registration gives you a unique name in the community and helps to prevent spammers. It only takes a few minutes to register so it is recommended you do so. To register click here.
Can I search for topics?
You can search for topics here. When searching, make sure you click on the search button rather than just pressing enter otherwise no results may be returned. To minimise the drain on the database server, the search is limited to topic titles only.
What are the silver and gold stars for?
The silver stars show your last quiz score. You receive a gold star for each 10 you get in a row.
What are the awards/badges for?
The awards are used to promote site participation. At this time there is no complete list of awards. Please do not ask for an award, many are automatically given.
What are Kudos?
Kudos points were created to encourage participation in on-topic forums. You receive 1 kudos point for each new topic and 2 kudos points for each reply to a topic (1st 5 replies only).
What is Aquarank?
Aquarank points are given for each day that you vote for FishProfiles.com using the voting image . You must be logged in to have your vote counter incremented.
How do I post an image?
Premium members can attach images or use [img] tags to display images directly in their posts. These images need to be hosted somewhere else on the internet. They cannot be hosted on FishProfiles.com. Please do not post images you do not own the copyright to.
What do I do if I find an objectionable comment?
If you see an objectionable comment that breaches the FishProfiles.com terms of service please report it using the report post icon at the base of the post.
What are the free text fields for?
When you edit your profile, several free text fields are provided for you to populate with your own personal information. You can list your tanks here if you like, or anything that does not breach the terms of service.
Why are the times incorrect?
You may be seeing times displayed in a time zone different from the one you are in. If this is the case, you should change your profile setting for the time zone to match your particular area.
Why isn’t my post count incrementing?
To combat spamming, post counts are only incremented in on-topic forums, where the post is above a certain length. Short posts and posts in off-topic forums do not increase your post count. Posting for the sake of increasing your post count may result in your account being time limited between posts and your post count may be reduced.
What is the status under each name? Why are some bold?
Each member is assigned a community status depending on their post count. Some members are also assigned an honorary status which is shown in bold under their community status. A listing of all statuses and their required post counts is unavailable to discourage spamming.
What is a moderator? How do I become a moderator?
A moderator looks after the running of their forums from day to day. They have the power to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move and delete topics in the forum they moderate. Generally moderators are there to prevent people going off-topic or posting abusive or offensive material.
What is an administrator? Who are the administrators?
An administrator has moderation access to all of the forums and can perform many other advanced functions. Administrators manage the overall day to day activities of the site and its members. The Administrators are Adam and Babelfish.
What are Premium Members?

How do I add a signature to my posts?
To add a signature to a post you can add one to your profile. Please limit the size of your signature to three lines or less and a maximum of one link. Large images in premium member signatures will be removed.
How do I add different colours and fonts to my post?
