there arent many chiclids that can be kept in a 10, but here are a few cichlids under 3in. as for african cichlids- multifasciatus big eye (neolamprologus similis), brichard's telmat (telmatochromis brichardi), and the brevis (lamprologus brevis). as for SA cichlids your choices are the bolivian ram (microgeophagus altispinosus) and the ram (microgeophagus ramirezi). to tell you the truth, i dont think it would be a good idea to put any cichlid in a 10g because theyre going to feel cramped no matter what.

I'm very much into shellies...I have a pair of brevis breeding in a 5.5g, a multi colony in a 10g, and another 10g is a brevis fry grow-out tank.

Singles or M/F pairs would most likely be the best choice. Cichlid-Forum.com has cookie-cutter set ups, but unfortunately not many options for a 10g.

I think that shellies are good for a 10 gal. tank.
