I'm starting a 10 gallon planted tank and I'm trying to get some ideas for fish. Are there any cichlids that would work in a 10g?

Apistogrammas would work well. They are small (max. 3.5", don't eat plants in any way, shape, or form, and the are relatively peaceful. A pair of them with a group of shrimp or something would look real nice in a planted tank. Make sure to give 'em a cave.

If your water is hard and alkaline, try shelldwellers ('shellies').

Personally I think a 10g is too small for a pair of kribs. I'd go with the rams or apistos.

I'd suggest getting a few multies. They seem like great little shell dwellers.

I have a pair of ocellatus but they've turned out to be too aggressive to be kept in a 10g.

Still, the shell dweller behaviour is interesting b/c every time I look at the tank they have it rearranged with sand piles everywhere.

Thats depending on which ram. My Bolivian ram grew big. It out grew the Krib. But the Blue ram stayed a small size. I just had no luck with rams. I loved the little fellas, but after the fourth died (2 Bolivian & 2 Blue Rams) I just said no more. Thats not saying that other people have better luck. It was me, I just lucked out. While I found the Krib much more hardy. If I had a chance to breed them, I was told it is very interesting. The parents are so amazing during and after breeding. They apparantly paid alot of attention to their young.
