I wass wondering how many firemouths could go in a 55 gallon along with some other fish? I was hoping to grow out a red devil and a flowerhorn in it for a while.

I wouldn't trust the Flowerhorn. I've never kept one (never wanted to) but at work they're absolutely awful - by the time they arrive they've torn each other to pieces in the bag, and then they rip apart anything else that's put in the tank with them (and continue to kill each other, which is fun - not). Nasty things, I wouldn't trust even a baby with the Firemouths.

would suggest just having a pair of firemouths in 55g, would really avoid mixing in reds and flowerhorns with them (even when small they can get really agro). And unstressed firemouths are a really interesting and colourful fish to own

One pair of fires. If they aren't breeding, they can make good community fish.... once they spawn though, they'll need their space. Dither fish will keep the male from stressing the female too much though.
