im setting up yet another 55g tank and ive been wanting to do a tang tank for some time now.i want this tank to be a show tank hopefully with frontosa burundi's being the center piece cichlids. then some black & white calvus with a couple of c. moorii's. what would be the best tangs for this tank along with the others?

thanks

Sounds like a nice tank,

But Frontosa will only be good in a 55g, for a short time then they'll need a much larger home

Also maybe look at a pair of Julidochromis rather then the C. Moori as their from Lake Malawi and with an adult size of 8-10" not the best mix in with a fish the size of Frontosa

Let us know what you come up with

A 55 would be adequate for the Fronts until they are around a year old, max. So unless you plan to upgrade their tank to minimum twice as big, I'd recommend you hold off from the Fronts...
A 55 filled with Calvus and Juli's would be great, leaving some room for other species!

i found a great deal on a 75g with stand and everything else for only $80.

so will 75g help my chances of keeping the fronts longer in one tank? or for life?

That does sound like a good deal, but if you think of the fish who gets to 10"+, its just not enough room for them I'm afraid. Especially considering you need bare minimum three fish. I'm sure you would agree that (75/3=) 25usg for a 10-12" fish isn't enough room.

don't mix the calvus, they will breed and you will get one very strange fish, calvus are somewhat rare in this hobby, and pure ones are even rarer, and also, calvus take forever to grow, so just stick with one type of calvus, keep the lines pure
