Yes me again

First money, then space...got those things taken care of when it dawned on us how much a 125g would weigh [link=http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/General%20Freshwater/53292.html?200501190831]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/General%20Freshwater/53292.html?200501190831" style="COLOR: #33CCFF[/link] Sooooo I think it's going to be a 75g. I'm a bit disappointed but this will still be my largest tank yet.

And the questions...starting with stock. I have a blue acara and pearl (G. brasiliensis) that will definitely be going in the tank. I'm also want severums.

Not really interested in breeding or pairs...how many of each of these could I have in this tank? Any other peaceful cichlids ideas that would work?

Dither fish ideas other than giant danios?

Bottom feeders suggestions?

Best filter(s)?

One or two heaters?

Thanks so much

No more than one of each with the acaras and sevs, they do get pretty large and you want other fish in there.

For a dither fish I would use some sort of larger tetra.

corries for bottom feeders.

With this stock, your tank will be pushing it a bit. But I know you will keep up on your water changes...

For HOB filters I'm a whisper fan, but i don't think a whisper 60 will be enough, I would use 2 of them and just turn the flow volume down a lil.

Good luck and congrats!

I have 75g with similar stock in mine i have a green severum, and 2 blue acaras. for my bottom feeders i have 5 yoyo loaches. my dithers are giant danios but congo tetras would work reasonably well. for a filter i have a fluval 404 and a aquaclear 500. i think that 2 ac 500's would work good.

I was just going to suggest congo tetras, they're so big compared to the neons and cards that sometimes I forget they're tetras. Or you you go with show-size black skirt tetras, they're big and showy too. Kinda dark though....

EDIT: I vote AC for the HOB, most reliable and good priced IME. AC's=

How about Buenos Aries Tetras as dithers? They're bigger and pretty tough.

I agree with the aquaclear's. I run 2 on my 75 gallon.

as for stock, 1 brasiliensis, 1 severum and 1 blue acara shoudl be fine. it will really depend on the temperament of the brasiliensis as they can get aggressive at times. I'd also go with corries for the bottom, and possibly some rainbows as dithers. Larger tetras or barbs should work as well. You could probably do a larger livebearer also so long as you won't be upset if livebearer fry get gobbled up by the cichlids.

I second the aquaclears. I have been running two ac300 and just upgrade the other to ac500 cause they were $25.00 off. Good, cheap, reliable, and easy maintance
