I was thinking about getting a 7 gallon shellie. Now, I heard that 5s are great for brevis, and not much else. Multis prefer a 10. But, I was wondering about a 7. Would it be enough for a small multi colony? Or am I better off sticking to a brevis pair?

You're much better off with brevis. Between a pair of happy, health brevis and a group of stressed multis, aways go with the brevis.

ok, I was thinking along those lines. I just saw brevis: 5 and multis = 10 and wondered what to do in the middle.

Yeah, I understand. I've had multis (and similis and brevis) in those 7 bows, and only the brevis acted normal. The similis were a definite, definite no but the multis weren't much better, they just didn't take it out on each other as much!
