This will be my first African tank.
I was thinking 6 Pseudotropheus saulosi, 6 P. Acei, 6 Maylandia estherae (Red Zebra) and 6 Labidochromis caeruleus (Yellow Lab).
If I get 6 of each, what should the male:female ratio be? 2:4? 1:5?

Well first off I'd like to complement your selection of fish, those are some very complementary fish and will work wonderfully together.

If I where you, I would go with 1:5. But those are relatively peaceful fish, so 2:4 would be fine as well.

Make sure you get pictures when it's done, I would be very interested in seeing that setup.

I was gonna get Texas holey rocks and black tahitian moon sand, but I'm worried about how the rocks would look with black sand. If they jsut don't go, I'll get pool filter sand.

Also, how should I stock them? Least aggressive species to most aggressive with a week in between each species?

But if I stock em all at once, I'm scared that'll cause a nitrite/ammonia spike(s)...

Then you can plop em all in there at once, that's what I'd do. I'd also dose some NIC just in case.
