SO I have 2 kribs, male/female, in my 20 gal long planted. And, 2 CAES (babies-will be swapped out when they get bigger) for algae control (had 4, 2 killed by Skunk Botias that went back to LFS today). Put 2 African Butterfly fish in there today, male is 2.5" female is 3". I may put them in my big tank..I have to get the cover back on tonight first is all..which requires help. BUT, would they be ok with the Kribs, so far the Kribs don't even know they are fish I think. Just thinking they are floatin leaves or somethng.

It worked for me...until the African butterfly fish jumped out of the tank (one small hole in the top that was up, sideways, and I thought too small for it to jump through - AND it was where the current flows back in from my hang on back filter). So, I think you'll be OK - mine was fine even when the kribs bred, but really, really, really cover the tank completely on top - they are amazing jumpers.

I know how they jump. the top is very secure..the only space, by the filter, is 1/4" wide.

Just FYI - that 1/4" space is about the size of the hole mine jumped out of. Granted, it took about 6 months for it so happen so I was sure the hole was too small, but he eventually did it.

Any chance you can duct tape over that hole? Or make some flap that covers it?

I just don't want you to have to come home to a hard, dry AFB laying on the floor.

I don't see that a fish that is as wide as 2 pencils..is going to fit through a slit that is less than the width of half a pencil?

Plue the slit is only 2" long and these fish are twice that long.
