A quick Internet search for the species came up with numerous results if you're interested in finding out more about this fish. G_T Never be afraid to try something new. The picture is of a male, as the females are bland in color compared to the males. A high quality flamback male, will become extremely intensely red down the back and part of the tail, and the rest of him being extremely dark black, when in breeding colors. These fish's colors rival that of most all salt water fish. These fish are mouth brooders, and very prolific. They come from Lake Victoria in Africa. Though not a true rift lake, it is concidered a rift lake due to the very near exact same water qualities. It is the second largest rain water lake in the world, Lake Superior in Michigan USA being the largest. All fish from Lake Victoria are on the endangered list, due to several environmental changes in and surrounding the lake. All of which were/are human caused changes. There is always a bigger fish... |
