Algae eater with cichlids? | |
daphnis Fingerling Posts: 28 Kudos: 18 Votes: 1 Registered: 03-Aug-2006 | I have a 20 gallon cichlid tank with 8 cichlids (among them a peacock). I am having some algae problems (green growth on the glass and on some sea shells) and was wondering if I should add an algae eater, and if so, which one? Thanks, Daphnis |

I no for a fact a common pleco will work, but they get up to 12-14 inches so he might get cramped. (mine is 13 and he is lazy so I have to give him agae disks because he wont eat the algae off the wall) |

The only algae eaters I can think of for a 20g would be some otocinclus and some cichlids won't be too nice to them. With 8 unknown cichlids in a 20g, a bristlenose would overstock the tank and SAEs get too large. What type of peacock do you have? What about the other cichlids? |
