What would one regard to be suitable tank dimensions for a single adult Altolamprolagus calvus? While some sources regard even a 15-gallon sytem sufficient, others feel a 60-gallon tank to be a stark minimum.

While I know of this species' slow rate of growth, can anyone provide a general sense of the chronological progression of a 1.5-inch juvenile to adulthood?

Lastly, does anyone know of any reputable online sources for the "black" morphotype of this species?

My pair of breeders are in a 15 gal, and have been for several years now.

As for a size timeline, well that also depends on wether you have a male or female. As the females rarely reach more than 2 inches. For a general timeline, I would say a male, fry to full size would take about 2 years, give or take. Females are about half that. Yours, has probably a year or so to go.

As for repitable on-line. I would say this is probably one of the best in the US for Tanganyikan cichlids. Especially fronts and compresseceps and calvus;
