They grow into a surprisigly large fish, trouble is in the uk not many people keep them in the appropriate conditions, thusly many never get to the ages when they become truly large and others suffer some dwarfing. A truly adult angel is no small fish, ive seen some around 10 inches tall locally, and their tanksizes need to be close the 100gal mark. |

But personally, I keep 4 angels in my 75G. One pair spawn regularly. I raised two batches of fries and keep 10 good looking ones in another 75G (they're about 2.5 inches in body length now). They certainly do better with more space. |

Big E Fish Addict Posts: 606 Kudos: 382 Votes: 0 Registered: 20-Feb-2001 | I know several professional breeders who keep their angels in 29 USG tanks (30" long, 20" tall, 12" wide). They tend to recommend this size as perfectly fine for a pair of angels. I think statements that you need a 55 gallon or larger for them to attain full size simply isn't true if you're planning on only keeping a pair. Now if you want to keep a group of angels - 4 or more, I agree a 55 is a much more appropriate tank size. Eric |
