By time, they'll be good parents & raise the fry well. Just give them a few times. Usually Angels breed every 14/21 days. If possible get a tank for them & only leave the pair, so you don't have to do the divider & stress the fish. The Liquifry No. 2 is good for the first few days, but then it's better to feed them Baby Brine Shrimp. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Bad news to report though. All but 4 of the fry disappeared on day 3 of them being free swimmers. At this point the male did get very aggressive with the female until the next day when all fry were gone. I don't know if they died of natural causes or were eaten. I did not see parents eating them, although it is difficult to tell if all the fry are spit back out after they get picked up in the mouth to be hearded into "their corner." All is well with the parents at this time. They seem to have made up for now anyway. Thanks again. Alec |

I've never heard of fish being able to comprehend such things as their partners eating the brood. That being said, angels are usually peaceful with their mate (I've never heard of serious quarreling amongst pairs) as they form lifelong pairs. |

From experience, leaving some of the brood with the parents eliminates this behaviour. Its very true that fish (including the angels after time) will suck the fry through the 'net dividers'. |

Breeding and raising fish really is facinating. Anyways, you can put the parents and the fry together, it is very rare that Angel parents eat the fry. You said that you have the parentsand the fry diveded from the rest of the tank,is the divder just a common diveder? Does it have any holes in it at all?If so, you will see a slow drop in fry count daily. Even though the fry cant fit through the holes the other fish will suck them through the holes ![]() Topher [span class="edited"][Edited by topher02 2004-07-13 09:25][/span] |
