Okay, Ive decided this is a problem. My angel changes color all the time between his natural color (dark black stripes the slight brown on his forhead silver near bottom etc you know), to a light gold on top to white on the bottom with his stripes gone. Hes usually the 2nd color type and I dunno why. When he changes though it only takes a matter of seconds to completelly change. Its really weird and I wish he would stay his normal colors. People have said he could be stressed etc. Dunno why though. Hes the king of the tank (Not that he harasses anyone though). He also is very tame. Eats out of my hand and follows you around in the tank. I feed him blood worms, TetraColor flakes, and I try to get him to eat lettuce when I can. What should I do? BTW I have came up with a theory. He seems to be the light color always when hes at the top or middle not near my live plants. But when hes near the live plants at the bottom swimming with them hes more likely to be the normal color I think..

Oh yeah and my temp is usually around 78-80F. He seems to like it there best...

Angels can change colour very quickly according to their mood. Colour displayed is influenced by the decor as well. A fish first viewed in a BB tank may look completely different after being moved to a planted tank.

It may well be your fish is trying to blend in with its surroundings as you say. So long as the fish seems healthy, I would not worry. I see my angels change their colour too, esp when they start posturing towards each other. Its amazing how fast they can change!

your angel is a child of two different colors of angelfish. One is the wild type coloration (silver with stripes, brown forehead) and the other is golden angelfish (white body, gold on the top edge of the fish).

There is no problem with this, just your angel has the ability to change whenever he/she feels like it. My angels do similar things and can be a problem when you are looking for a wild colored angel and turns out you have two golds instead of 1 wild and 1 gold.

Many cichlids can change color quickly. Keyholes can change from a light cream to a dark brown color almost instantly. It can happen under stress, or when breeding; whenever the fish is in an 'emotional' state.
